Dryer Maintenance

Your dryer depends on unrestricted airflow to dry clothes efficiently and operate safely. Lint buildup not only reduces performance but can also create a serious fire hazard if ignored.
How do you keep your dryer operating safely?

  • Clean the lint filter after every load.
  • Have the dryer vent cleaned and inspected at least once a year.
  • Make sure the vent hose is not crushed behind the appliance.
  • Avoid overloading the drum.
  • Check that the outside exhaust flap opens freely during operation.
  • Vacuum lint from around and behind the dryer periodically.
  • Listen for squealing, grinding or thumping noises.
  • Replace damaged plastic vent hoses with rigid metal ducting when appropriate.
  • Is your dryer taking more than one cycle to dry clothes?
Restricted airflow or a failing heating component could be reducing efficiency and increasing energy costs.
