Dryer Maintenance
Your dryer depends on unrestricted airflow to dry clothes efficiently and operate safely. Lint buildup not only reduces performance but can also create a serious fire hazard if ignored.
How do you keep your dryer operating safely?
- Clean the lint filter after every load.
- Have the dryer vent cleaned and inspected at least once a year.
- Make sure the vent hose is not crushed behind the appliance.
- Avoid overloading the drum.
- Check that the outside exhaust flap opens freely during operation.
- Vacuum lint from around and behind the dryer periodically.
- Listen for squealing, grinding or thumping noises.
- Replace damaged plastic vent hoses with rigid metal ducting when appropriate.
- Is your dryer taking more than one cycle to dry clothes?
Restricted airflow or a failing heating component could be reducing efficiency and increasing energy costs.
